At Cracoe & Rylstone, we aim to help our children to develop an understanding of their roles as global citizens. We want to raise awareness of multi-cultural and global issues across the whole school community, including an appreciation of the fact that what we do can make a difference to the lives of other people and environments around the world.
Our pupil Eco-Schools Committee and Fairtrade Committee work towards these aims. In March 2014, we became a Fairtrade School, receiving this award in recognition of our work in support of the Fairtrade cause.
Our school has established a number of exciting, active partnerships which link our pupils directly to children and organizations in the wider world. These partnerships are a regular focus of whole-school topic work, partnership visits, fundraising activities and events and email contacts.
Currently, we have links with Sierra Leone (the YWCA School in Bo), Kenya (the Keyole School and Holly House Orphanage in Nairobi), Thethi School in Albania, Orkney Primary School and the Sky Cycling Team.
